We practice classical Hatha Yoga, Ha (sun) Tha (moon), where Hatha represents two opposite energies, hot and cold, male and female. It attempts to balance mind and body through postures, breathing, purification, controlled breathing and relaxation.
The emphasis in our class is on safety of the students, therefore our classes are in slow meditative movements. We encourage a non competitive environment and practice with the individual's abilities in mind.
Traditionally Hatha yoga is a holistic path that includes postures, purification, poses, breathing and meditation. However in the West, only postures are practiced and it is viewed as physical exercise. Our practice, as opposed to the western style, is full integration of postures, asanas, and breathing (Ujjayi, Anuloma Viloma).
