1st Day of Summer

Posted by Anne Parr on June 21, 2010 at 7:59 AM

Today is Summer solstice the first day of summer.

I love this day as it is the longest daylight we have all year. More sun shine more vitamin D and up lifted spirits.

Now that the temperatures are rising HOT DAYS of summer approaching we need to look at hydration.

How much water should we be drinking?  * men 3.7 litres . 2.7 litres women age 19 - 50 yrs

While exercising drink 125 - 250 ml or 4 – 8 - 8oz every 10 - 15 minutes for every pound of weight lost after exercise.

Is water our only source of liquids?

No but be careful read the labels some interesting facts from Dr. Mercola

First of all start your mornings off with a glass of water ad some lemon juice – fresh is the best.

Drink slowly enjoy the flavour, savor the taste. Drink before you feel thirsty.
